With support of the British America starts to Bomb Taliban Forces. By November 2001, Abdul Rashid Dostum and his men retreat from Mazar-e-Sharif, Afghanistan. Within the next week more Taliban strongholds collapse. In December of 2001 Bin laden, leader of al-Qaeda gets in a two week battle with afghan soldiers and escapes. By the December 9th the Taliban surrender to Kandahar. New leaders take charge. 17 years of war still continues. -
The Hunt for Bin Laden

From the first location Bin laden hid in, the Tora Bora mountains in 2001 to the time he died on May 2, 2011 he was on a global man hunt. He was hunted down for his acts related to the 9/11 terrorists attacks. He eventually was killed my American troops but before that drones of all kinds and law enforcement were on the search for him.v\ But he remained in the shadows. Hiring and plotting plans of terrorism, was Later found and killed. -
President Bush Responds to 9/11 Attacks

In President Bush's address he starts off with saying, "Today, our fellow citizens, our way of life, our very freedom came under attack in a series of deliberate and deadly terrorist acts". He later ensures to the people of America that they are safe. Then towards the end of his speech he uses the bible verse Psalm 23, "Even though I walk through the valley of death I fear no evil for you are with me". -
Search and Rescue/ Cleanup at Ground zero
Minutes after the first plane hit, the New York Fire Department rushed to the scene. They set up in the lobby and some at West street. This was to get people down through stair and elevators. During the event 343 firefighters heroically died. The NYPD were able help a few 2,000 make it out and fly above the towers in helicopters to report what was going on. The firefighters looked for people in the rubble and they released 400 dogs to search to. On the other hand machinery got rid of the rubble. -
National Remembrance and Mourning
Sadness and mourning sweeps the Nation. Those who lost love one mourn before the once World Trade Center. The Memorial brings families together to pray and share memories with each other. A boy named Wyatt who lived on a farm, waited for his dad to come home after 9/11 and he never returned. He says, "If your first real view of the world is your parent being murdered, it's very hard to put that in its place." Not just Wyatt's family mourns all of America does, Even 17 years after 9/11. -
Civilians Respond and Help
All over America civilians flew American flags and also came to the rescue of those in the 9/11 disaster. Civilians/ Red cross together donated 36,000 units of blood to the blood center in New York after 9/11. Some responded with anger and blamed groups of people. During the rescue some civilians drove their boats in to pick up survivors and take them to safety. During the chaotic madness charities were formed. Nevertheless, the civilians aided the injured and helped families recover after 9/11. -
The War on Terror is Declared
The War on Terror or otherwise known as The war on Terrorism was a number of wars started by the U.S. due to response of 9/11. Two major war locations were Iraq and Afghanistan. Although unmanned drones were sent out to eliminate suspected targets. They believed that the war in Afghanistan split up al-Qaeda. By President Bushes reelection the U.S. forced started to overthrow enemy governments and were gaining ground. When Barack Obama was president, troops were still fighting. America responded. -
USA Patriot Act

The USA Patriot Act is a away of keeping others safe in certain ways. For example: "Allows law enforcement to use surveillance against more crimes of terror". In other words security cameras. But Also allows Patriots acts to investigates scenes with the tool provided. But also they can share information through the government to be more successful. Also it increases the penalty for terrorists acts and Helps arm the law enforcement. -
Homeland Security Act
The Main priority of the Homeland Security organization is to protect the United States. This was put into place after the terrorist acts of 9/11. They have the authority to investigate and prevent terrorist attacks before they happen. They also assist recover and repair of times where terrorist attacks occur. The homeland security Act or known as the HSA was cosponsored by 118 members of Congress.
The HSA helps America stay safe.

War in Iraq
The War in Iraq Is a war between Iraqi Military forces and the United States plus Great Britain. The war started in 2003 and ended in 2011. It all started when Ṣaddām didn't want to leave Iraq and the U.S, with allied troops, attacked a bunker complex with precision bombs and air strikes. During the back and forth conflict, around 500,000 people died from the war and some results say 405,000 of the deaths were soldiers. What started a protracted army conflicted turned to one devastating battle.
