I remember sitting with my mom listening to her read with me. She was the first person to introduce me to books. -

I remember sitting in my grandma's lap as she read to me. I can't remember the name of the book. I can remember how much I enjoyed people reading to me. -
My first trip to the school library!
This was one of the most exciting days. I remember looking at all of the great books and feeling overwhelmed. I wanted every book. I really enjoyed my trips to the library. -

The Berenstain Bears was one of my favorites. These books helped me really get hooked on reading. -
Middle School begins!
Reading was the last thing on my mind at this time. I remember reading books that were required for class. The most fun was the discussion about the books. This was the first time I actually got to talk about what I was reading. -
High School begins!
I was introduced to several books I enjoyed in High School. Some of the books were required reading. Some of the books were read because I enjoyed them. I really enjoyed reading in High School. It was enjoyable and helped me to grow as a student. -
Senior year!
I was so ready to graduate. One of my best memories was my American Government class. We got to pick out a book to read and report on that related to government. I was allowed to read Helter Skelter. It was the true story about Charles Manson. This was my first non-fiction book and I really enjoyed it. It really got me excited about reading on my own. -
College starts!
My mother read these books. I became interested in them and couldn't put them down. The stories were really uplifting. When things got tough in college these books help me keep perspective. -
John Adams
I loved reading about the life of our Founding Fathers. Reading about John Adams was my first time reading about a historical figure. It was my inspiration for becoming a history teacher. -
My teaching career begins!
I love history. The Uncle John Bathroom Readers are one of my guilty pleasures. They have some of the most amazing stories about unusual historical facts. My students love these stories. -
Freetime
I actually need some free time away from history. I love to read John Grisham books. He creates a great story that hooks a person from the beginning. -
Marathon
I ran the Chicago Marathon. This was the most challenging thing I have ever done. I thought about quitting several times while I was training. Reading books about people who have ran marathons gave me hope. The stories inspired me to keep training. -
What am I reading today?
Waiting for Superman. I am really interested in seeing the movie. It documents the problems we are facing in education. The book offers some interesting theories on the problems with our schools today.
