    Ivan III ( The Great ) was crowned the 1st czar of Russia from 1462 to 1505. This lead to the rise of communism because he instilled anti-democracy ideas on Russia, which later lead to an uprising and ultimately a communist system.
  • Russian Reveloution

    The Russian Reveloution ended the rule of the Tsars. The Communist Country took control of Russia and a new reign began.
  • Soviet Union Created

    Soviet Union Created
    The Soviet Union was created by the Communist Party in 1922. Leaders of the Soviet Union now ruled the country from Moscow. This organized the Communist Party and created a more strict rule in Russia.
  • Joseph Stalin

    Joseph Stalin led the Soviet Union from 1923 until his death in 1953.Stalin created a command economy in the Soviet Union. He replaced the New Economic Policy in the 1920's to the Five-Year Plan. During this period, there was rapid industrial and economic growth. However, the new communist government created controversy and there were acts and protests against the government.

    Joseph Stalin took over the USSR and led the Soviet Union in the fight against Germany. As the war preoceeded, relation between the Soviet Union and its allies like the U.S. became worse. The conflict between the U.S. and the Soviet Union became known as the Cold War.

    The Cold War led to many events such as the Korean War, Hydrogen bomb, and Star Wars. in June 25, 1950, North Korean Communist groups attacked South Korea. on November 1, 1952, the U.S. successfully tested their first hydrogen bomb just a year before the Soviets. In March 29, 1951, the Rosenburg Spy Case occured. Both Julius and Ethel Rosenberg were executed for atomic secrets from the U.S. to the soviet Union.

    Nikita was the First Secretary of the Communist Party in the Soviet Union (April 17th 1894- September 11, 1971) He was also the Chairman of Council of Ministers from 1953 to 1964. He was later replaced by Leonid Brezhnev.

    Sputnik was the first man made satellite to orbit the Earth that was launched by the Soviet Union. the Launch of Sputnik 1 began the Space Race.
  • Leonid Brezhnev

    Leonid Brezhnev
    Leonid Breznev served as General Secratery of the Communist Part in the Soviet Union from October 14, 1964 to November 10, 1982. He also served twice as the Chairman of Presidium of the Supreme Soviet. During this time he helped the fall of communism by ignoring fundamental economic problems.
