Homestead Act of 1862
Immigrants, settlers, and women got 160 free acres of land but paid a filing fee and lived on the land for five years in Colorado and Wyoming. This proved homesteaders can own land of their own and be independant. -
Fetterman Massacre
In Montana, the Siuox, Cheyenne, and Arapho warriors tricked 80 soldiers into pursuit. The Siuox won due to Crazy Horse. Hundreds of warriors were waiting in ambush and wiped out the entire detachment. -
Discovery of 1874
The Sioux tribe protested agianst the trespassers and instead of protecting the Sioux's rights they tried to buy the hills. -
Battle of Little Bighorn
In North and South Dakota the Sioux and Cheyenne tribes fought against Colonel George Custer. The Native American's won a short lived glory and proved they can own land and be more than just slaves! -
