Columbus "discovers" America
Christopher Columbus spotted a chain of islands on Friday October 12. They continued on from there to find Cuba. -
Jamestown Colony Created
The Colony of Jamestown was the first permanent English Settlement. Founded by John Smith. -
Plymouth Colony Created
The Plymouth Colony, much like Jamestown, was one of the first permanent colnies in the New World. It was founded by the "Pilgrims". -
Massachusetts Bay Colony Created
It was founded English Puritans who very wealthy. John Winthrop was the first governor of the colony. -
New Amsterdam Becomes New York
The city was named New Amsterdam by the Dutch who occupied the colony. The British decided to take it. They eventually changed the name to New York. -
William Penn Creates Pennsylvania
Penn was given, by the king, a colony in the new world. Penn created Pennsylvania where everybody was treated equally. -
George Washington Assaults Fort Duquesne
George Washington and a small band of people started the war by attacking a French fort. They came back in defeeat. The war had begun. -
Albany Congress Meets
The colonies met in Albany, New Yorkto discuss the issue with France. The idea to team up against France was proposed, but not one of the colonies agreed to it. -
The French & Indian War Concludes
The British had started out terribly but in the end they defeated the French. They took control of most of the New World.
