Was supposed to be their 3rd mission landing on the moon.
During launch, the second-stage inboard engine shut down due to a explosion in one of the oxygen tanks.
Forced to orbit the moon and return to Earth without landing. -
Women Protest for Equality
More than 20,000 women gathered for a protest in NYC.
Strike included equality in the workforce, political rights, social equality in relationships (ex. marriage). -
Muhammad Ali v. Joe Frazier
Both had a ligitimate claim to the world title and boxed for the title.
Frazier won in 15 rounds. -
Watergate Scandal
Burglars arrested inside Watergate building in D.C. while attempting to wiretap phones and steal secret documents.
The burglars were found connected to Nixon's reelection campaign.
Nixon tried to cover up the scandal but failed.
Soon after, Nixon resigned from presidency. -
Roe v. Wade
Lawsuit brought to the Supreme Court on behalf of a pregnant women who wanted an abortion but the law denied it.
The Court ruled the law violated the constitution.
Abortion then became more popular in the states. -
