Montcalm launches fireboats
While British General James Wolfe was trying to come up with a new plan for his attack on Quebec, the French General Marquis de Montcalm launched his own attack. Boats and rafts carrying gunpowder were chained together and sent with the current toward the English fleet. This surprise attack failed. -

French Surrender at Montreal.
The British were first to arrive up St.Lawrence, so the French had to retreat back to Montreal. But the British went to Montreal with a total 17,000 people, they burnt villages on the way. By September 6th the british troops arrived at Lanchine. Although Lévis wanted to fight, Governor Marquis de Vaudreuil felt there was nothing left but to surrender the town. -

The seven years war ended with the signing of the Treaty of Paris.And Britain found itself with a colony of French Catholics.
