The Boston Massacre
The killing of five colonists by British regulars. The civilians killed were; Samuel Gray, Samuel Maverick, James Caldwell, Crispus Attucks, and Patrick Carr. The Boston Massacre was caused by a payment dispute that lead to the killing of the five men. -
Boston Tea Party
Britain retained the tea tax, partly as a symbol of its right to tax the colonies, partly to aid the financially embarrassed East India Company. The colonists tried to prevent the purchase of the taxed tea, so Gov. Thomas Hutchinson, of Boston, So, a group of colonists led by Samuel Adams , Paul Revere , and others, disguised themselves as Native Americans and dumped the tea from the boats in Boston into the harbor. -
First Continental Congress
A convention of delegates from twelve of the thirteen North American colonies that met at Carpenter's Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. -
The Second Continental Congress
Held to sever ties with Great Britain. At this meeting, the declaration of independance would be signed. -

A document stating the intentions of the forefathers of this country. It effectively states this is a independent country no longer ruled by Britain. -

Was also known as the Constitutional Convention. The meeting where the Articles of Confederation were discussed by leaders like Benjamin Franklin, Washington, Hamilton and Madison. -
New Jersey Plan
It called for equal representation in congress from all states, regardless of population. -
Virginia Plan
The Virginia Plan proposed that each state would be represented in proportion to their free inhabitants.
