    Contemporary school reform movements derived from the launching of the first Russian manned spacecraft, Sputnik. After this the schools curricula changed and started stressing the need for the basic skills such as reading, writing and math. They also started teaching science to the youner students.

  • The economic Opportunity Act

    This act created the head start and that is designed to hepl to needs of preschool disadvantaged children.

  • The elementary and secondary education act

    This was designed to provide remedial assistance to disadvantaged students who achieved below - grade-level results in math and reading.

  • Educate America Act

    this set standards to be achieved nationwide by the year 2000. the goal is to set world-class standards in math and science.
