The over all meaning that the author is trying to display is that thousands of pigs died and the situation is unknown because it's still under investagation. -

One supporting detail is the author says theres nothing wrong with pigs and the water so keep on drinking and to eat pig. Another supporting detail is he says where all these pigs come from and how they died. A third supporting detail is the author describes how the people there are trying to find any viruses to see what is making all this happen. -

I predict that they might find a new kind of virus that dosen't really harm people but kills thousands of animals instantly. Another prediction I had was if they eat the pork would it effect them later on and kill them. They might also find out where it came fromand ask questions. -

I found out that there are two viruses that are inside the pigs and they are called PCV1 and PCV2 which does not infect humans. But a scientist unnamed said there might be something in there that do effect humans such as salmonella and others unnamed. -
