Dominican War of Independence
This occurred on what we now know as the Dominican Republic. Initial independence was gained on February 27, 1844 after an overthrow of the Haitian government. They overthrew them since the Haitians had launched an invasion on them after living in unity for 22 years. This event is significant to history because it was essentially another country's civil war.
