Lewis and Clark start thier expidition.
In 1804 Meriwether Lewis was selected to lead a group of men to explore the louisiana Purchase lands. He asked his friend William Clark to come along with him. Clark gladly exepted. They started there long expidition in St. Louis. -
Discovery of the Rocky Mountains
More About Rocky Mountains One day William Clark saw the soon to be discovered Rocky mountains. Over the next few days the rest of the group saw them too. -
The Water Fall
More about the Great Falls in MissouriOn thier way to the mountains there was a big problem. In the way was a huge water fall now known as The Great Falls of the Missouri river. They had to walk around it, it took them twenty four long days. -
Helpers come
One day when Lewis was walking ahead he run into a group of Shoshone woman. At first they were scared but then they brought them back to their home to give them food and shelter .(Lewis hoped he could trabe for houres and pack animals.) -
A big help
On September 1,1805 gave Lewis and Clark got more than they wanted. The chief did not olny give them horses, he gave a guide to help them through the Rockies. -
The Snowstorm
In mid september there was a horrible snowstorm, even the native american guide got lost. Because of the lack of food they to kill some of their animals for food. -
The Rain
One early November day it started to rain. The rain pelted the travelers as they set up camp in an old indian village. -
The Rain Stops
On November 7th 1805 the rain finally stops. As the fog parts they see the ocean, they have made it to the West coast. -
The Long Journey Home
After a couple of weeks they started their long, long, long, journey back home. It took the corps of discovery six months to get back to St.Louis. -
The End of the Journey
After a long six months, the team arrived safley back in St.Louis. Their four thousand mile journey took them from St.Louis to the Pacific Ocean and back agian. Lewis and Clark paved the for more settlers out west.
