It started with only the United States having possession of the Nuclear weapons, then as time went on the Soviet Union develpoed their own versions. Because both sides engaged in a race to match each others weapons, they knew that the moment one would launch its weapons, the other side would immediatly send theirs.

    Korea was split into 2 seperate pieced: North Korea and South called the 38th Parallel of Latitude. Korea right after WWI because the independent Kingdom before Japan conqured it. North Korea turned communist and became allies with the Soviet Union when Kim II Sung ruled, while Syngman Rhee ruled South Korea, they became allies with the United States and backed dictorial. 1950, Kim called for a "Heroic Struggle" to reunite Korea but then soon split again.

The battles grew larger and larger all up until Mao reached victory and set up the Peoples Republic of China. The defeated nationalists fled to the island of taiwan off the chinese coast.     The Berlin Wall split apart east and west Berlin. It was created for all the East Germans that were unhappy with the low pay and communism to flee there. The wall was completed with a massive concrete barrier with barbedwire and patrol gaurds.

    Once Cuba turned to communism, America stopped trading with them, and once America stopped trading with them Cuba turned to the Soviet Union for support. Thinking it would be a good plan, Soviet Union placed many nuclear weapons in Cuba. When the United States found out there was a 13 day period where America and the Soviet Union almost got into a nuclear war. Cuba was afraid of the domino effect becuase if one country falls many others will fall with it.

The struggle in Afgan provoked a crsis in Soviet homes.
