The people of Iran revolted against the Shah and the monarchy of Iran and eventually overthrew the monarchy. -

The Soviets allied with the Afghani government to help fight the rebellion but the United States and other countries backed the Mujahideen rebels. Ultimately the Mujahideen won the war. -

Iraq invaded Iran over land conflicts. In the end no land was really gained or lost. -

The Berlin wall which had separated East Germany and West Germany, the Western world from the Eastern world, and socialism from democracy, was destroyed. -
