Out of the easy listening era into Rock and pop! positive
http://www.stinalisa.com/50sMusic.htmlThe 50's saw a great change in popular music. In the beginning of the 50's it was a carry over from the Big Band/Easy Listening era, but as the years moved forward we began to hear Doo Wop music. And then, when Elvis entered the music kingdom, it was the birth of Rock & Roll. Teenagers came forth with a new type of dancing at the sock hops, and the popular fashion for the girls was poodle skirts and bobby sox, and white t-shirts and jeans for the boys. The boys wore their hair in a DA or Duc -
Rock and Roll, Positive
It really bloomed in the mid 50s when you had people like Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins. You had white boys playing their version of blues that they had learned on the radio or from other blues artists, and then mixing that with the country and western roots from their hometown. That essentially became rock and roll; a mixture of blues and country music. But we still had people who were singing other people's songs. Only a co -
Pop, Positive
In the 60s you had plenty of pop stars and other rock stars making money off of other people's songs, but with the mainstream success of Bob Dylan and The Beatles, both of whom wrote their own material, they made music more and more artistic. Self expression became important whereas before we did not really have an artist coming in and demanding control of how the record was produced, mixed what the cover out would be and what the song sequence -

Grung and Alternative Rock, Positive
http://www.thepeoplehistory.com/90smusic.htmlAround late 1992 to early 1993 , there was a change starting in the mainstream radio playlists. While the sexual lyrics of techno and hip-hop still dominated the airwaves, a new style of rock music was making an impact. Bands like Pearl Jam and Soundgarden were offering youngsters a new type of rock music to listen to that contained catchy lyrics about the angst and trials of teenage years. These songs also seemed to send a message about the status quo of society and the helplessness that was fe -
Variety? Positive!

It was a time when musical taste was as varied as the events that were happening at the time. Many of the most popular acts that emerged in the 1990's were bands and artists who enjoyed a type of resurgence in the mainstream music scene after their popularity had dwindled for a decade or so. Other artists were just starting out during this decade and mak -
Expression or Money? Neutral
Now a days people listen to certain music because it's popular or they just like it and it's their style, it describes them or moves them. Alot of artists nowadays seem to make anything when their popular and people buy it even if it sounds absurd those would be the people that do it for the money, then the other artists do their art because they love to they express their feelings and/or thoughts through their music and sometimes wish to even just inspire people. -
Young Musicians Gone Wild? Negative
Over the past years of 2000's musical arts have risen to the top of the popularity chart like Hannah Montana they've all tended to make large somes of money from tons and tons of merchandice to the point of kids pillows with the pop stars face on it, then after awhile either the star or the media makes the person look exactly the opposite tway with claims of things like naked pose pictures and other innapropraite things then the stars get fired and rehired like crazy.
