The lives of the workers were unhappy. As a result they created groups that fought against the Czar. One main radical group was called Bolsheviks. -
Bloody Sunday
Workers lined the street of of the czar's winter palace in St. Petersburg. All they were asking is for better working conditions, more personal freedom and to elect national legislature but instead Nicholas II's general odered soldiers to fire on the crowd. -
World War I
Nicolas II forced Russia to join the war knowing he had an unprepared military and the economic costs were to high for his country. The Russian people were killed by the millions. -
The March Revolution
Group of women textile workers in Petrograd let sitywide strikes. Nearly 200,000 workers joined on the streets. -
Czar Steps Down
The protest broke out so much that it forced Nicolas and his family to step down from his throne. -
The Bolshevik Revolution
The Bolshevik's gaine control of most of the population. -
Lenin in Power
Lenin made a new economic system called New Economic Policy which allowed peasants to sell their surplus crops instead of turning them over to the government. -
Stalin becomes Dictator
Stalin becomes dictator because Lenin suffered a stroke. After Lenin died, Stalin was in total control of the Communist Party.
