Tianhe-1 (Milky Way No 1), Petascale Supercomputer
Tianhe-1 is a supercomputer built in China (using Linux-based OS) that was the fastest computer in the world from October 2010 to June 2011. In 2011 it was announced that a simulation ran on this supercomputer allowed research to be furthered in solar energy. Had it not been for this supercomputer, the power of 130,000 laptops would be equivalent in performance. This supercomputer was also used for petroleum and aircraft design computations. -

With the Google Nest there is no need to worry about the thermostat when you are not home. This device learns and adapts to your preferred temperature by itself. IBM Sequoia
On June 14 2012 IBM's Sequoia became the world's fastest supercomputer, being 37% more energy efficient than the previous record holder. This supercomputer was built for the National Nuclear Security Administration and was primarily used to simulate nuclear weapons. It was also used to study astronomy, energy, the human genome, and climate change. In 2013 the Sequoia set the world-record for using more than one million computing cores at a time in a single application. -

With the release of this computer the size of a credit card, hobbyists were able to learn more about creating with technology. It can be plugged into a computer monitor and used with a keyboard and mouse but allows people to explore programming and computing at a low cost. In short, you can use the Rasberry Pi as a PC, wireless router, gaming console, or to automate your home.
