    The Japanese country invests in a new generation of computers that use artificial intelligence techniques. They seek to create machines that are capable of learning and automatically translate from one language to another.

    The first hardware developed by the project known as Personal Sequential machine (PSI) and the first version of the operating system called SIMPOS (Sequentual Inference Machine Programming Operating System) is finished.

    A prototype of hardware called PIM (Parallel Inference Machine) is built using several PSI machines connected in a network and a new version of the PROLOG 1.0 language is developed and oriented to parallel computing and the SIMPOS 1.0 is rewritten.
