Claudius Ptolemy
He made contributions to astronomy, mathematics, geography, musical theory, and optics. He compiled a star catalog and the earliest surviving table of a trigonometric function and established mathematically that an object and its mirror image must make equal angles to a mirror. This all happened in the year 127 AD. This is important because without him we basically wouldn't have a map of the world to look at. -

He was an astronomer who proposed a heliocentric system, that the planets orbit around the Sun. He made his discovery around 1514. His discovery was considered important because it was the first modern European scientist to propose that Earth and other planets revolve around the sun, or the Heliocentric Theory of the universe. -
