Missouri Compromise
Admitted Missouri as a slave state and Maine as a free state. In 1854 it was repealed by the Kansas/Nebraska act. -

Tried to stop spread of slavery into the territories. Never passed in house o r congress. -
Compromise of 1850
Califorina was enterd as a free state. New Mexico and Utah were each allowed to use popular sovereignty to decide the issue of slavery. In other words, the people would pick whether the states would be free or slave. -
Uncle Toms Cabin
Book written by Reverend Josiah Henson. Henson worked with the underground railroad. -
Kansas/ Nebraska Act
Allowed the states to decide if they were pro slavery or against slavery. -
John Browns Raid
Led a group of 21 men from Maryland to Virginia. Their immediate objective was the capture of the cache of weapons stored at the U.S. Arsenal at Harpers Ferry. Brown's ultimate goal was to destroy the slave system of the South.
