The First Crusade was when the Christian population took Jerusalem over and forced all the Muslims and Jewish people out. This event is important when talking about Middle Eastern history because this lead to several other Crusades and castle sieges. -

The Thrid Crusade
The war in Afghanistan started in October 2001 just a month after 9/11. We decided to invade Afghanistan because we thought that they had weapons of mass destruction. We als wanted to take down the entire Al-Qaeda organization. This is still a major issue today considering we are still fighting the war. -
The Creation of Isreal
The creation of Israel is important to Middle Eastern History because it is a very big source of tension in the Middle East. The day after Israel became a nation and declared its independence the surrounding Arab countries attacked it. This is very important to the U.S. because we are big supporters of Israel and if we want to keep the peace. -
Persian Gulf War
The Persian Gulf War started August 2 1990 when Iraq invaded Kuwait. This war was lead by Saddam Hussein and the Iraqi military. Some of the other countries that were involved were United States, Britain, Egypt, France, and Saudi Arabia. On February 24 Iraq withdrew its troops from Kuwait. This lead to a lot of Middle East tension toward Iraq. -
9/11
9/11 was the worst terrorist attacks on U.S. soil it resulted in a death toll of 2,995 people. This event is very important when talking about Middle East history because this lead to the invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq. -

Iranian Hostage Crisis
53 Americans were held hostage for 444 days. Iranian terrorists went into an American Embassy and kidnapped 53 American people this was in support of the Iranian Revolution. The 53 captives were released on the day that Ronald Regan became president. This event is significant because this shows how much the Iranian people resent us.
