Sugar Act
The whole porpose of the Sugar Act was to stop Smuggling goods. These goods included tobacco, sugar, and timber to be directly shipped to Britain. The British also put taxes on cloth, sugar, coffee, and wine because the British wanted more money. The Colonists suffered from all of the restrictions with the taxes but they ended up getting Writs of Assistance that allowed them to board Colonial Ships, but they wouldn't have any privacy from the British because they could search the ship. -
Stamp Act
The Stamp Act made a tax on every legal document such as the News paper, pamphlet, and deck of cards going to the Colonies. The British did this tax so that the Colonists could pay for the British against Indian War. Kind of sad how they did this, but they made it work. -
Quartering Act
Required people who are innkeepers or officals to house and feed the British Soldiers. It didn't matter what class you were from like the upper or lower classes if they wanted you to take the soldiers in you pretty much had to. This gave the Colonists no privacy from the British and the Colonists realized they had no say in what they wanted to do because the British would over rule them anyways. -
Tea Act
The Tea Act gave the right to the British to sell tea to the Colonists. There was s company that was in Britain, and the purpose was to keep the company from going broke. This law went against Colonists and most thought they were going against the law. The Colonists said Parliament had no right to tax the Colonies. -
Boston Tea Party
The Colonists attempted to stop unloading cargo of tea but the protestors ripped open 342 chests of tea and dumped all of it into the harbor, since all that happened the British closed the harbor because of the big tragety. Everything that happened at the harbor led to the first continental congress in Philidelphia. The members of the congress decided to ban trade with Britian. The time when the British came to mass we had a second continental congress and decided to resist the British.
