    Eugene V. Debs

    Eugene V. Debs was an American socialist, political activist, trade unionist, one of the founding members of the Industrial Workers of the World, and five-time candidate of the Socialist Party of America for President of the United States. He crwated a couple of Union/Parties that helped everyone in the late 1800 and early 1900, he was fighting for justice & equality.

    Jim Crow laws

    The Jim Crow laws were state laws that enforced racial segregation in the Southern States. This started after the Civil War in 1861 and lasted until 1965.
  • Chinese Exclusion Act

    The Chinese Exclusion Act was signed by President Chester A. Arthur in May. This Act prohibited all immigration of Chinese laborers for about 10 years.
  • Sinking of the Lusitania

    The Sinking of the Lusitania was a ship that was torpedoed by a German U-boat U-20. It was a British ship that sunk in 18 minutes and took the life of 1,198 people & leaving 761 survivors. This occured because Britian had implemented a naval blockade of Germany, do they tried to torpedo their way out.
  • Zimmermann Telegram

    The Zimmermann Telegram was a secret diplomatic communication between German Foreign Office & Mexico. This telegram was about making a military allience in case the United States entered World War 1 which it did but Brititsh Intelligence intercepted and decoded teh message.
  • Sedition Act

    The Sedition Act was an act that the US Congress passed in 1918 was an extension to the Espionage Act of 1917. It covered a broader range of offenses, mostly speech and the expression of the government or war in a negative way or interfered with government bonds.

    The 18th Amendment called for the "banning of the manufacture, sale, or transportation of alcoholic beverages."

    Red Scare

    The Red Scare was a promotion of widespread fear by the society in order to promote a potential rise of communism, anarchism, or radical leftism.There were two time periods where this term was being used, in the 1920 & then later on in the late 1940s and throughout most of the 1950s.
  • The 19th Amendment

    The 19th Amendment prohibits the states and the federal government to deny the right to vote on basis of sex.
  • Immigration Act of 1924

    The Immigration Act of 1924 was an act that limited the number of immigrants that were allowed to enter the United States through a national origins quota. This quota allowed around 2 percent of the total numbe of people of each nationally to enter the US with a proper visa.
  • John Scopes - The Monkey Trial

    The Monkey Trail was a court case that went to the Supreme Court and it was about the teaching of evolution. The parties that were involved were The State of Tennessee v. John Thomas Scopes. John Thomas Scopes was a substitute high school teacher of the state of Tennessee & he was acused of violating Tennesses Butler Act, which made it unlawful to teach evolution. It went to the Supreme Court where they ruled that it was alright that he was teaching evolution

    The 20th Amendment is pretty basic because all it was is changing the dates from which government elected offices end & who succeds as President if the current President dies.
  • The 21st Amendment

    The 21st Amendment is basically making the 18th amendment invalid or canceling it out. This is because it legalizes liquor and the manufactuaring, transportation, & possesion.
