The war begins
Pressured by the War Hawks, Congress declared war on Brittian. They were impressing American sailors, violating their rights at sea, and supporting the Indian resistance. -
Battle of Lake Erie
Brittish forces mobilized on Lake Erie. The American soldiers fought under the command of Oliver Perry. America lost 27 men, 96 more were wounded, and one of there brigs was heavily damaged. However, on the Brittish side, 41 were killed, 93 were wounded, and 306 were captured. It was one of the most important naval victories for America in the war.
