The idea of animation
In 1824, Peter Roget presented his idea of graphical animation to the royal British society. His idea was a genius thought but seemed impossible to the British. -
The phenkitstoscope
One of the first pieces of animation was presented as an invention called a phenakitstoscope in 1831. This was a projector of rotating disks that once properly set to the same speeds were meant to be an illusion of slow moving graphics. -
An animated film production
J. Stuart Blackton presented the first animated film in 1906, which was called “Humorous Phases of Funny Faces.” He drew faces on a black board and then filmed each one. He’d erase them and draw the next one and edit the video to play each face changing expressions. -
The Disney Cartoon Studio
In 1923, Walt and Roy Disney founded Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio. Here, they would make history creating the first animated cartoons on the black and white screen. Walt took techniques of combining cartoon actions in his first film, Alice’s Wonderland. -
3D effects are invented
In 1995, the first 3D movie was made. Toy Story, a Disney movie, was produced to make images in the show seem to pop out of the screen using red and blue shaded glasses that would create this life-like effect and make you feel like you are in on the action.
