Magna Carta
Magna Carta required the King John of England to proclaim certain rights, respect certain legal procedures, and accept that his will could be bound by law. -
Albany plan of union
The Albany plan of the union was an effort to create confederation proposed by Ben Franklin. The King did not allow it. -
First Continental Congress
Congress met to consider options, including economic boycott of British trade; publish a list of rights and greivences; and petition King George for redress of those greievences. -

Was the nations 1st government that raised an army and navy, made treaties, created money, etc. -

The Colonies wanted to be independant from Britian. They desired the consent from the governed and that there was no more "devine right". -
Articles of Confederation
The Articles of Confederation was a plan to unite the colonies. It was the constitution before the Constitution.
