    boss tweed owned alot of land in new york, he was actually the third largest land owner. He was voted to the united states house of representitives.
  • homestead act

    gave 160 acres of free land to settlers that paid the fee and lived on the land for five years..
  • end of the civil war

    the civil war was a battle between the north and the south. this war caused the loss of many peoples lives. around 600,000 soldiers were killed
  • telephane was invented

    some problems flare up with south. they do not like the the republicans because of the civil war
  • battle of the bighorn

    this battle was the last vicyory for the native americans.
  • transcontinental RR

    both the union pacific and thecentral pacific agreed to build the railroad. chinease and afican americans were hired to build this railroad. in the end the union pacific laid more track down then the central pacific.
  • chinese exclusion

    this act would not allow as many chinease immigrants to enter the united states.
  • time zones

    in the making of the railraod, the time zone were alson created. each time zone is an hour apart. this became official in the year 1918.
  • pendleton act is passed

    dawes act did not allow any indian tribes. this act encouraged the indian to become more like the settlers. the indians were also not allowed to have their weapans.

    this made monopolies agaainst the law and gave businesses a chance to be able to their store without being taken over by another company.

    ellis island was located in new york city. it was where immigrants went when they firts came to the US.
