    The Great Awakening was when pre-destination made you believe that God already planned out your fate. But when the gap between the rich and the poor grew two famous preachers Johnathon Edwards and George Whitefield spoke of controling your own destiny. This is important because religion was the government and the religion was changing.

    The causes of the war were competetion over land in the Ohio River Valley, conflict over control over the trade routes, competetion over trade with the natives, wars in Europe and the rivalry between the English and French. This is important because the English gained the Ohio River Valley by winning.

    The Treaty of Paris
    The Treaty of Paris ended the French and Indian War and the Seven Years war. It took place in France and even though it's not the first Treaty of Paris it's impprtant because the impact of the war cost the British 8 million dollars and created conflict between the Americans and the British because they were both blaming eachother for their problems. The Brithsh wanted repayment and the Americans wanted more land and neither were getting what they wanted.

    The proclamation line was drawn by King George after the French and Indian War the colonists wished to settle the Ohio River Valley area. The king drew this line because the colonists kept pushing west and fighting with the Natives increased. It's important because It was one of the first things that made the colonists get so angry. The colonists thought that they fought in the war and deserved to settle that land. The king thought the colonists were being immature.

    The Sugar Act
    The Sugar Act was put in place by england to lower the price of sugar but because it was an indirect tax the colonists were outraged because they could physically SEE the tax. The goal of the king was to decrease the smuggling. The act also allowed British soldiers writ of assistance and allowed them to board and search any ship entering or leaving American harbors. This is important because it was the first of the Intolerable Acts.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre was when a bunch of colonists went out to terrorize some British Soldiers. They started threatening them and one colonists threw a club at a soldier. There is a lot of bias and propaganda of what happened next but someone started shooting and the soldiers started all shooting and colonists were injured and dead. This is important because Boston gained some support from other colonies after this happened by making propaganda pictures.
  • Boston Tea Party

    On the day of the Boston Tea Party the colonists dressed like the Mowhawk indians and dumped barrels upon barrels of English tea into the harbor until the harbor was brown for days because of the tea. This is important because it caused the port to be completely closed down and raised the King's debt from the colonists.

    The Boston Port Act happened after the Boston Tea Party as a punishment from the King and Parliament where they closed down the harbor and wanted to "reduce the colonies to a state of dependence." This is important because the King was punishing Boston and not to rest of the colonies trying to keep them from uniting and he actually pushed them closer.

    The First Continental Congress met in Philadelphia to discuss what to do about the English. They asked two questions: What are our rights and How should we defend them? They made it illegal to sell British goods and the Committee's of Correspondence to enforce it. This is important because it was a huge boycott on English goods.
  • Lexington and Concord

    The American Revolution on Lexington and ConcordThe battle of Lexington and Concord was the first battle of the war between the English and the Colonists. The British wanted to steal all of the colonists muskets and ammuntion which was in Lexington and Concord but they landed in a marsh and by the time they got there the Colonists were waiting for them and fought them off. This is important because it was the day of the "shot heard around the world" and signaled that war was inevitable.
