By gaining Independence from Spain in 1821, Mexico´s road to democracy started, so new forms of government did too. Agustin de Iturbide was declared emperor in 1821, but democracy was not so present in his government.

Mexico´s road to democracy continued with the publication of this constitution, in which the country becomes free from any foreign country and becomes a federal representative popular republic.

First revolution in Italy took place in Piedmont, led by Anabile Santorre, it attempted to remove austrians from Italy and unify the Italian territories. This made the spark of democracy start rising among Italian people.

The creation of this Republic opened the doors to democracy in Italy, because led to an election and it was a republic formed by a senate, and some people could now elect the members of the senate.

4 important laws were promulgated, which changed the way the country worked, and helped democracy develope, these were:
-Juarez law: It erradicated the special power of the church and army
-Lerdo law: It made church and civil organizations get rid of their lands by selling them.
-Iglesias law: It prohibited church to recolect tithe
-Lafragua law: It allowed freedom of expression in printed media -
Most of the states of the Italian Peninsula are united under King Victor Emmanuel II of the Savoy dynasty, crowned King of Italy.
With this, people could now live under a single rule, enjoying some benefits, but they were still under the rule of Austria -
Maximilian I of Habsburg got into México and established the Second Mexican Empire, this reflected in democracy because it didn´t allow people to vote and their rights were not totally respected.

The Third Italian War of Independence, between the Kingdom of Italy and Austrian Empire, occurs, resulting in no true victory by either side. This made the Forces of Change uprise even more among Italian´s which will continue fighting for independence and democracy.

Rome replaces Florence as the capital of the Kingdom of Italy. This ends the process of unification, which was a great step in Italy´s history, because people could now enjoy the benefits of unification.

Porfirio Diaz was a Mexican general who entered power as a president, but as the years passed, he became a dictator who didn´t respect natural rights and free elections. He lasted 35 years in the power.
