Uruguay peaks
Uruguay peaked in prosperity after WWII and the Korean war. When Uruguay had peaked in it's per capita, it started supplying the allies with supplies. -
Uruguay receives support from the US due to guerrillas in Uruguay.
Guerrillas in Uruguay started popping up, robbing banks and distributing food and money in poor neighborhoods, then they would withstand attacks from the government. The guerrillas succeeded in their task, which embarrassed and destabilized the government. The US then begins operating in Uruguay, training Uruguayan police and intelligence in multiple fields.
