Penn State Comes to Delaware County
Delaware County commissioners request to establish a campus of the Pennsylvania State University in Delaware County in 1966. -
Campus Opens
The campus opened in a rented building in Chester on September 25, 1967, admitting 236 students. They were taught by a full-time faculty of 11, and were served by a campus library consisting of about 500 books. -
Construction of New Campus
November 1968, the groundbreaking ceremonies held for the new campus. -
Dedication Ceremonies
May 1971, the dedication ceremonies for the new campus building. About 600 people attended the ceremonies which was moved indoors due to rain. -
Opening of Library
December 1980, Library/Learning Center is officially opened. -
Ceremony for Athletic Center
October 1985, groundbreaking ceremony for Commons/Athletic Center. -
Dedication of Athletic Center
October 1988, the dedication of Commons/Athletic Center. -
Dedication of Classroom Building
October 1998, the The Classroom Building is formally dedicated. -
Penn State Delaware County is Penn State Brandywine
November 2007, Penn State’s Board of Trustees approves Penn State Delaware County’s official name change to Penn State Brandywine.
