The Act was the first law ever passed by the British parliament .
But the law has been postponed for twelve months, because the british called the reason " First World War" -
Easter Rising
The Easter Rising was an attempt by militant Irish republicans to win independence from Britain. The leaders were executed after six days of fighting. Two of the leaders were Patrick Pearse and James Connolly. It was the first open conflict and the first step to the War of Independence. -

Finally after the first Wolrd War the promised elections were performed. -
Irish War of Independence (Anglo-Irish War)
The Irish War of Independence was a guerrilla war mounted against the British government in Ireland by the Irish Republican Army (IRA). The Irish Free State worked to remove the remants of British authority in Ireland. Northern Ireland remainded within the United Kingdom. -
Éamon De Valera
In 1919 he was chosen as the President of the Executive Council. After a short time he was chosen as the President of the unaccredited Irish Republic. After the beginning of the Irish Independent War he traveled to the USA to get financial and politic help for the Irish rebels. After his end as the Irish President 1921 he was the leader of the rebels in the next Irish Civil War. 1923 they lay down their arms to end the war. -
Bloody Sunday
The Bloody Sunday on 21th Novembre 1920 was a day of violence, during the Irish War of Independence. Michael Collins, mastermind of the Irish Republican Brotherhood (IRB), ordered to kill the "Cairo Gang". In fact of this the British opened a fire on the crowd at a Gaelic football match in Croke Park. In total, 31 people were killed. -
Goverment of Ireland Act
The Act divided Ireland into two territories, Southern Ireland and Northern Ireland, each intended to be self-governing, except in areas specifically reserved to the Parliament of the United Kingdom: chief amongst these were matters relating to the Crown, to defence, foreign affairs, international trade, and currency. -
Anglo-Irish Treaty
It led to the founding of the Irish Free State, a self-governing association of 26 of the 32 Irish counties. The association was under the authority of the British crown, equal to Canada or Australia. -
Irish Civil War
The Irish Civil War (1922-1923) was a conflict between two opposing groups: Irish nationalist, who supported the Anglo- Irish Treaty and the Republican, who were against the Anglo-Irish Treaty.
To this time, the two main political parties in the Republic of Irland, Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael, are the direct descendants of the opposing sides in the war.

Death of Michael Collins
On 22th August 1922 Michael Collins died in fact of getting into an ambush on the way back home. It was a short gun battle and Michael Collins was the only fatality in the action.He had ordered his convoy to stop and return fire, instead of choosing the safer option of driving on in his touring car or transferring to the safety of the accompanying armoured car, as his companion, Emmet Dalton, had wished.
Collins was 31 years old; At the time of his death, he was engaged to Kitty Kiernan. -
Dáil Éireann
The Dáil Éireann is a House of Commons of the parliament Oireachtes in the Republic of Ireland. The first meetings were proceeded in 1922 in the Leinster House in Dublin. In 1919 the Irish nationalists met in three Dáil's: the first, second and third Dáil. But only the last Dáil, who was chosen in 'The Treaty', was appreciated from the British law. -
Sinn Féin
Sinn Féin is a party, founded on the 28th of november in 1905. Arthur Griffith was a man who was involved in this foundingprocess. His idea was to have an independent parliament under the big british parliament.
At the Easter Rising the party was agressive for the first time.
The party getting more and more important. In 1919 there was the first Sinn Féin parliament. the first independence war depended on this fact.
