Climate change is happening now
On the road to Copenhagen (COP 15), this week's theme on Our world. Your move. is "Climate change is happening now." It is important to understand that climate change is not something that future generations can worry about. It is happening now. And it is already affecting us but especially the vulnerable among us, across the planet. -
Climate change affects the entire globe
The consequences of climate change are manifold and already affecting the most vulnerable among us today, in all regions of the world. While almost all countries are experiencing changes in weather and climate events, poorer countries with less resources are in a weaker position to adapt to these changes. -
Climate change has a human face
Climate change is not just impacting on glaciers, sea levels and deserts but, most importantly, on the living conditions of people all over the globe. The poorest and most vulnerable who have only little resources for adaptation are hit hardest. -
We have to be prepared for climate change
Climate change may have harmful impacts on people's lives and livelihoods. Natural disasters such as draughts, floods and hurricanes pose severe threats and challenges to communities all over the world. But as we know what is happening, it does not take us by surprise. We have to be prepared. -
Educate and inform yourself about climate change
If we want to be prepared and make our move, we need to first of all educate ourselves and learn about climate change. We then must pass on that information to other people and be prepared for disasters and other consequences of the changing climate. -
Climate change: What can you do? Make your move.
Everybody can contribute and do one (or two or three) very simple steps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, to educate people about climate change, to help the victims of its impacts... It's up to you now, make your move and make a difference.
