    On Febuary 1, 1953, Paulina Wright Davis published the first issue of the "Una." This newspaper is designed to discuss the rights, duty, and destiny of women.
  • First woman runs for congress

    First woman runs for congress
    : Elizabeth Cady Stanton declares herself a candidate for Congress in New York. She only recieves 24 of 22,026 votes cast in the election.
  • The Women's suffrage ammendment is first introduced

    Senator S.C. Pomeroy brings the federal women's suffrage amendment to Congress for the first time
  • The Anti-Suffrage party is founded

    The wives of prominent men, including Civil War veterans, came together to found the Anti-Suffrage party.
  • The First vote is cast

    The first vote on Womens Suffrage is taken in the Senate on January 25, 1887. It is defeated 34 to 16, with 25 members not there.
