  • Operation Enduring Freedom- The War in Afghanistan

    Operation Enduring Freedom- The War in Afghanistan
    " Operation Enduring Freedom" the war in Afghanistan was in response to the terrorist attack on 9/11. With the help of the British they begin to invade Afghanistan to get the Taliban out and dismantle Al Qaeda. They also wanted to find leader Osama Bin Laden who orchestrated the attacked on 9/11.

    ITunes and Ipod
    Apple was changing the world as we knew it by introducing the music platform iTunes and the iPod. You could download music straight to your iPod from the iTunes catalog. The iPod could hold up to 1000 songs. The best of all the device was portable. This was the introduction to digital music.

    Youtube was created by three former employees of the company PayPal, they had the idea of ordinary people sharing their home videos. The site took off faster than expected. By May 2005 ( beta) the site had was attracting over 30,000 visitors per day. By 2006 Youtube was serving more than 100 million views per day.

    The Kyoto Protocol called for reducing the emissions of greenhouse gases that were effecting our climate on Earth. The protocol was first adopted by Japan in 1997, but it became and international law in 2005.

    Hurricane Katrina- New Orleans
    Hurricane Katrina hit land as a category 3 in New Orleans. Having 120-140 miles per hour winds. The levees created to help prevent flooding could not sustain all the water the hurricane brought with it. Leaving New Orleans under water and people stranded. The coast guard was able to rescue about 34,000 people but the storm claimed many lives or left them permanently displaced.

    The 2008 Olympics was watched by 3.5 billion people worldwide. The Summer Olympics also set a world record for being the most expense Summer Olympics of all time. Later Beijing also hosted the Winter Olympics in 2022 making them the first city to host the summer and winter Olympics.

    A mystery illness that can be passed from person to person shows up in China. It's almost like the flu, but worse. China tries to contain it by going under lockdown. The first case of the mystery illness shows up in the US after a traveler that was visiting China returns home. The illness begins to spread claiming multiples lives in the process. In an effort to control the illness the US goes under lock down and social distance guidelines go into affect.

    While on the way to a basketball game the helicopter that Kobe Bryant, daughter Gigi and seven other people where in crashed into a hillside killing everyone aboard. This tragic event shocked every basketball fan around the world.

    In the midst of the pandemic the world watch in disbelief the death of George Floyd. His death was at the hands of a Minneapolis police officer. The officer held his knee on Floyd's neck while he gasp for air. This launch many Black Lives Matter Protest to bring the awareness to racism and social justice. Floyd was one of many who lost their lives due to racism.

    Russia does not like the fact that Ukraine is independent and has adopted democracy and free thinking. The President of Russia wants Ukraine back their control. Unfortunately, this war is still ongoing.

    In 1973 The US Supreme Court legalized abortion in the United States. Fast forward to 2022. The US Supreme Court overturned that decision banning abortions. This ruling has also sparked at lot of protest with women fighting for their rights to choose.

    After the success of the first Black Panther the second movie was due to release in May 2022. Due to the loss of Chadwick Boseman the movie was pushed back. The movie finally released in Nov. 2022. Wakanda Forever was the #2 movie in the box office.
