    Progressive era
    (1890 - 1920) In 1918-31 an admendment was passed banning all alcoholic drinks because people thought drinking led to proverty,crime and family violence. The 18th admendment also prohibited the manufactoring of drinks to. In 1991 women were becoming very active in politics but were stilled denied suffrage. In 1920 the 19th admendment was passed to give women the right to vote. reforments were passed but they ignored minorities.

    On jan 10, 1901 Anthony lucas struck out big time with oil at dpindle top. Ever since oil struck the oil boom was created in 1981. there were thousands of hundreds of oil derricks that caought the attetion of people causing population growth in 1925-29. Also Tx helped allies by producing twice as much oil as the Nazis, Germans and Japan combined. Economic changes occured because of oil and population growth.

    On May 7 ,1915 there was a sinking a passenger u-boat called the Lusitania. Not only did the lusitania sinking set the Americans off but on Jan, 1912 the zimmerman telegram was sent from Germany to mexico but got in the habds of britain about how they re going to suprise U.S.. Also in 1912 Archiduke Franz of Austria-Hungary was assasinated in Bosinia.In 1911-18 Panch villa began raiding and killing U.S citizens because they didnt see him as a laeder. On Apr 6,1917 U.S declares war on Germany.

    On Oct 29, 1929, it was the stock market crash where people would borrow money to buy stocks. It got worse so people started losing jobs and money. In 1930, banks lost all their money causing them to close. In 1932-41 the dust bowl occurred. Dust storms swept through mile and miles of land causing bad things to happen.

    On Mar 4, 1941, the Hoover dam was built being the biggest dam ever built while also powering the city above and around it. In 1932, President Franklin Roosevelt was elected president based on his promise of the “new deal”. It created programs to stimulate the economy and reformed the banking system

    On April 6, 1917 Woodrow Wilson declared war on Germany as payback. Also Dec 7,1941 was a date nobody would forget, The bombing of Pearl Harbor. Japan was the one who dropped bombs on the Pearl Harbor in Hawii. On jun 6,1944 its D-Day also known as Domes day because it was the turning point of war when the allies invaded Germany.

    On Aug 6,1945 U.S. got payback on Japan by dropping a nuclear bomb on the city of Hiroshima. Also on Aug 9, 1945 three days after U.S. dropped a second bomb on the city of Japan Nagaski forcing them to surrender after Germany already surrendered. (ended Sep 2, 1945)
