Technological Milestones: 2030 & Beyond

  • 2030 - Artificial Neurons

    2030 - Artificial Neurons
Artificial neurons will act as replacements for the natural neurons that are inevitably lost throughout a human being's lifetime. This technological advancement will allow medical experts to precisely implement devices to supplement any improper signaling that may occur between the brain and the vast multitude of areas that make up a person's body, whether it be chronic disease, an artificial limb, or even physical brain damage.
  • Over-the-air Charging

    Over-the-air Charging
Over-the-air charging is a futuristic milestone that will allow most mobile devices of that day to be charged while sitting within a specified vicinity. Practically, this may look like a technology that is used in a social hub, such as a Starbucks or school library. Privatized use of this technology will allow people to charge their devices while simply being within the boundaries of their households or vehicles.
  • Fully Immersive Gameplay

    Fully Immersive Gameplay
Fully immersive gameplay will be a milestone that allows a person to not only experience virtual reality, but also physical sensations such as the feeling of floating or driving a vehicle at high speeds, and tastes and smells, all from the comfort of their home. This technological advancement may also be utilized at a commercial level, allowing everyday people to experience virtually any type of scenario from anywhere in the world.
  • Fully Integrated Augmented Reality

    Fully Integrated Augmented Reality
Fully integrated augmented reality is a technological milestone that will incorporate the rapidly evolving social-professional landscape with augmented reality. Ideally, this will allow everyday people to experience their day-to-day lives in between the physical and the virtual realities, whether it be talking face-to-face with another person hundreds of miles away (think "virtual reality facetime"), or locking your front door from your bedroom. Realistically, the applications are endless.
  • Self-Flying Planes

    Self-Flying Planes
Self-Flying Planes will expand the aviation market in multiple ways, whether they be implemented for commercialized use, essentially replacing flying as we know it today, or if they are made available for privatized use, allowing middle and/or upper class citizens to utilize their own privatized aircraft. Military implications of a technology of this magnitude would more than likely shift the way we participate in global combat, as we are currently seeing drones do.
