Mount Moriah, Abraham almost sacrificing Isaac - How does God continue to advance his mission to reflect His glory in this story?
God made Abraham sacrifice Isaac because He wanted to know whether or not Abraham had faith in Him. God ended up saving Isaac so Abraham could just sacrifice the ram. Which proves how God continues to advance his mission on earth, His mission is to fill the earth with His glory and Him putting us humans in the earth is reflecting his glory. This story shows how he did that because he spared Isaac, he knew that he was capable of spreading the gospel and to advance his mission, so He spared him. -

Joseph's Typology part 1
In Genesis 39, Joseph was thrown into prison when Potiphar's wife lied to Potiphar and accused him. A similar thing happened in the new testament when the Pharisees in Matthew asked Jesus a trick question about Ceaser's coin. They did it so if Jesus said the wrong thing, then they would have the chance to accuse Jesus of disobeying God or doing something bad, which would cause the Romans to be furious. These two verses connect since they both show humans with their sins, trickery, accusations. -

Joseph's Typology part 2
Acts 7:42, God asks Israel if they are worshipping God or the idols. In the verse, God used sun, moon, stars as a metaphor for the idols. This relates back to Joseph's dream since it shows people's change of focus from OT to NT. In Joseph's dream, people(sun, moon, etc.) would worship the righteous(Joseph), but in Acts, it shows the people worshipping the idols(sun, moon, stars)instead of the righteous(God). It's kind of confusing but it shows how the metaphors have changed and so did the views. -

Personal Reflection
In Genesis 12-24 there were many stories that I can relate to, surprisingly. One that I can relate to the most is probably Sarah's behavior when Ishmael was born. In the same way, I would often be jealous of other people and be mean to them and I would think that I'm not the one at fault. However, reading the stories made me realize my behavior was not necessary and in real life, people like me should just learn to respect people and talk it out. I'm glad I learned something from this unit. -
How can we see God's covenant with Abraham being fulfilled today?
Genesis 17:7-8, "I will always keep the promise I have made to you and your descendants because I am your God and their God. 8 I will give you and them the land in which you are now a foreigner. I will give the whole land of Canaan to your family forever, and I will be their God.", this is the covenant stating that Abraham will have many descendants and will have a great nation. The fact that we are all alive and that Israel is a country means that we are all proof that God has kept his promise
