In this story, God tested Abraham's faith. There's nothing that was going to stop God from bringing out His mission and Abraham needed to let nothing stop him either. Little did Abraham know, 2000 years later, God would also sacrifice his only son on the same mountain. This showed that even back then, God was already advancing in his mission, which was to let Jesus die for us. It shows how much He cares for us and how everything was planned just right to showcase His glory in the end.

The verses that connect the OT to the NT is Genesis 49:10, and Luke 1:33. In Genesis, Jacob blesses one of Judah's descendants who will become an ultimate ruler. And in Luke, Jesus is said to reign over Jacob's descendants, and his kingdom will never end. Both verses connect because they both talk about Jacob's descendants and they both talk about Jesus ruling the earth forever.

The verses that connect the OT and the NT is Genesis 32:1-2 and Luke 22:43. In Genesis, right before Jacob wrestles with God, an angel of God met him. In Luke, right before Jesus wrestles with God in the garden before the crucifixion, He meets an angel from heaven. Prior to wrestling with God, they both met an angel, which connects these two verses.

In Genesis 37: 5-7, Joseph gets a dream. Those verses really impacted me because when I was about 9, I got a dream from God. I used to be a horrible kid who was selfish, easily mad, and inconsiderate. That night God gave me a dream. I saw a garden at first but then He started asking me why I did the things I did. He told me what I did was wrong but w love which made me feel like I needed to change. (this is brief bc my character capacity is running out) So I felt connected to the passage.

Genesis 17:20 states that God will bless Ishmael with many descendants. He will be the ancestor of 12 tribal leaders and will have a great nation. This covenant is seen fulfilled today because Ishmael's descendants fill the earth even now. For example, they are prominent in the modern day Israeli-Palestine conflict that is happening now. God fulfilled the covenant of making Ishmael a great nation and God's covenant is still continuing today.
