Jacob Typology part 1
Jacob was the one who was saved and forgiven by God DESPITE his sinister deeds, such as tricking his brother Esau for the birthright and blessings. He was later deceived by Laban and worked double the amount of time to marry Rachel. Although the God in the new testament was seen as kind and forgiving, the old testament God was seen as a harsh/jealous God. What God had done for Jacob connects to the new testament where God can be kind and forgiving, and uses Jacob despite his mistakes. -

Mount Moriah - Abraham almost sacrificing Isaac
Sources: Wikipedia, https://www.harpscrossing.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/Timeline-From-Abram-to-Exodus.pdf God continues to advance his mission to reflect His glory here when he commands Abraham to sacrifice his only son to test his loyalty. Abraham follows, and God stops him from killing his son, and fulfils his own end of the covenant: make Abraham the father of all nations. God is all powerful and we have to trust what He says, since He knows what is best. -

Jacob Typology part 2
In the new testament, God forgives the evil as well, just like how Jacob's wicked deeds were forgiven despite his sinister personality, and allows a sinful person to touch him. Matthew 26:7-13 describes a sinful woman pouring perfume on Jesus' feet. Jesus doesn't care about the past and forgives her despite her sinful nature, and from then on she was not sinful anymore. Hong Kong - Personal Reflection
Jacob's life connects to mine because I've done a lot of wrong things in the past that shouldn't be forgiven, such as lying (I lied/still do about forgetting my homework.) Despite my mistakes, God has not held anything on me and allows me to advance and succeed in the tasks I do today.Genesis 25:19 - "Jacob said to his father, “I am Esau your firstborn. I have done as you told me. Please sit up and eat some of my game, so that you may give me your blessing.”" Jacob lies to steal Esau's blessing. -
How can we see God's covenant with Abraham being fulfilled today?
Romans 4:23-24:"The words “it was credited to him” were written not for him alone, 24 but also for us, to whom God will credit righteousness" God's covenant with Abraham applies today as God guides us if we obey Him, and can be found in the missionaries today. Missionaries are able to convince others to join Christianity because God's word guides them, and speaks out powerful.
