The Olmecs, Mayans, Aztecs and Incans were the first people groups. The Olmecs were the first known civilization, they built sculptures and pyramids. The Mayans grew maize and used irrigation for farming. The Aztecs conquered their way through mesoamerica, they were trained fighters and were the most powerful people group. -

America- English Colonies in the Americas.
In 1609 King James I allowed the people to settle in Virginia, America. Later, more settlers came and there were 13 colonies. Virginia, North and South Carolina's, Maryland, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire. There were conflicts within and between colonies but they all lived through and fought The American Revolution. -

The Native Americans had 6 tribes, the Anasazi, Moundbuilders, North and Northwest, West and Southwest, Great Plains and Northeast and Southeast. -

Africa- Kingdoms of West Africa
There were 3 kingdoms of West Africa. Ghana, Mali, then Song Hai. Ghana traded salt and gold, Mali was rich with gold, Song Hai was ruled by Askia the great. -

Europe- Europe before Transatlantic Travel.
European thinkers rediscovered the traditions of Ancient Greek and Rome which shaped the European society. While the Black Death wiped out 1/3 of the population which lead to the starting of the Renaissance. -

Henry the Navigator sets up an exploration school which helps sailors explore better. Europeans also find a path to reach Asia. -

America- New Empires in the Americas.
The age of exploration finally starts during 1400s when Henry the Navigator sets up a school for exploring. Explorers like Da Gama and Dias set sail for Asia, Columbus finds the Americas, named after Amerigo, which lead to people settling in North America. -

Europe- Europeans reach America
Columbus, a sailor from Italy, sails for Spain and reaches America. It starts the Columbian Exchange and brings other sailors to America. Meanwhile, Ferdinand Magellan circumnavigates the globe. -

America- Spanish Empires
Conquistadors, Cortes and Pizarro took out the Aztecs and Incas which gave them new land to settle in. Later in North America, millions of Native Americans die from diseases which leads to slavery. -

Europe- Race to America
While the Protestant Reformation was happening, King Phillip II attacked England with the Spanish Armada but they lose. The loss of Spain allows other countries like Netherlands, England and France to settle in the new world. -

America- Beginning of Slavery
When the Native Americans died, the Americans had no workers to plant their farms. Bartolemu de las Casas suggested using Africans, who were immune to their disease, as slaves. Europeans captured Africans which led to the African Diaspora. Many died during the middle passage and while working. The slaves still had families, religion, songs and dances but they still went through hardship. -
America - New England Economy
New England, the northern colonies had harsh climate and rocky soil. That allowed them to grow cash crops and raise animals. They did not use many slaves, because the south had large plantations.Trade was important to New England, merchants who trade with countries and colonies got rich and lead the colonies. New England's rich water allowed them to fish and trade dried fish. Ship builders had many resources to build, shapes were used for fishing and trade. Craftspeople made tools and weapons. -
America- The Mayflower
In the early 1600s Pilgrims (A group that fled England to escape persecution) signed the Mayflower contract which was a legal contract that made them have fair laws to protect the good. They landed in Massachusetts and struggled in the winter. -

The colonists and the Powhatan were peaceful while John Rolfe married Pocahontas. But after Pocahontas died, in 1622 the colonist killed a Powhatan leader which -
England- English trade laws
The reason England got rich was thanks to mercantilism. They would be wealthy if they had fewer imports than exports. The Parliament banned the colonist from trading with other countries other than England. The colonist wanted to trade with other countries so they turned to illegal trading. English and American merchants started to trade around the world to get rich in the 1700. -
America-New York and New Jersey
In 1613 the Dutch found New Netherlands and used it as a trading post. But in 1664 an English fleet took over and named the colony New York. Later New Jersey became a colony and had a diverse population. -
America- Bacon's rebellion
The colony was in bad shape and unprotected by the Native Americans. Nathaniel Bacon attacked the Indians and burned Jamestown. He controlled much of the colony until he died. -
America- Pennsylvania
In 1681 William Penn established a colony to protect Quakers. Pennsylvania grew rapidy, because Pennsylvania had an elected assembly and a freedom of religion. -
America and England- Governments in the colonies and England.
The English monarch was in charge of all of the colonies, even though the colonies had governments, England was in charge of them. King James II wanted to take control over the colonies and England, which led to the release of the English Bill of rights which reduced the power of English Monarchs and the parliament grew -
America- Britains raises taxes.
After winning the French and Indian war, England still had an army in America. To pay for that, they taxed the colonists higher. Britain caught smugglers which upset the colonist which led to little wars. -
America- Boston Massacre
When Britain had an army to protect the colonist. The colonist saw them as a threat and they both resented each other. British soldiers shot 3 men when they got angry in 1770. Samuel Adams spread the story and called the shooting Boston Massacre. -
Modern day- Slave Trade- Human Trafficking
The slave trade that started in West Africa still continues today in a form called human trafficking. -
Modern day- Spanish Armada- Navy war ships.
The Spanish Armada was a fleet of war ships. Today we have Navy ships like Battle ships, destroyers, cruisers, and submarines to protect or attack other ships.
