Thousands of people immediatly opposed a proposal called SOPA and started to protest. Its purpose was to try and censor the internet. Many big name websites such as Wikipedia and Reddit also protested by shutting down their website.Google also started a petition to stop this proposal and in the end they were succesful, SOPA is no longer being proposed. -
Last Veteran of WW1 dies
New york Times Florence Green died February 4, 2012 and was the last known living veteran from WW1. Although she did not see any action she served in the embryonic Royal Air Force. Even at an old age she still had vivid memories of going in the planes even though she was afraid to fly. After serving time she married Walter Green and were married for 50 years. -

BBC Vladimir Putin was elected as president in 2004 and remained until 2008. He was reelected in 2012 making that his 3rd presidency. He won by a whopping 63% and has already passed 10 laws withing the first day of being president. -

Supreme Court Rules On Immigration Laws

The Supreme Court has rejected most but not all laws regarding immigration laws in Arizona. The laws states that the police can ask for your immigration status and ask for your residency papers. Many people say that this encourages racial profiling and discrimination. Barack Obama released a statement saying no american should live in a cloud of suspicion due to their appearance. -
12 Killed in Colorado Shooting

James Holmes went to a midnight screening of the movie Batman and proceeded to kill 12 people and injur 58 others. He was apprehended outside the theater and police soon searched his home. It was soon found out that his home had been booby trapped and rigged with explosives. -

Cannabis Legalization

After many years of advocates trying to legalize cannabis for recreational use they finally suceeded with amendment 64. This amendement states it is legal for people over the age of 21 to posses and use cannabis for recreational purposes. Only 2 states have adopted this law but many enthusiasts hope for more states to follow.
