Invention of the Seagate ST506 hard disk drive
The ST506 was the first hard disk drive for microcomputers. The HDD held 5 megabytes of data which at the time was five times as much as a standard floppy disk. The creators were Alan Shugart and Finis Conner. Their invention was the beginning of computer storage, they invented a way for computers to easily store more information. The ST506 sold millions of units and was used in Apple and IBM technology. -
