iTunes, an app made by Apple, was released on Jan 9 2001. iTunes is the most popular app on iPhones to listen to music. The majority of artist release their albums on iTunes versus other apps like Spotify and Soundcloud (which were not invented in 2001). -

Tmobile launched the G1 (HTC Dream) on Sept 23 2008. This is the first smart phone to use googles new operating system for mobile devices (Android 1.0). In todays society Android is the biggest competitor against Apple products. Therefore, most devices that are used today are influenced by Apple and Android products.
