  • Classes

    As a high school student, you should carefully choose the classes you will be taking. Try to enroll yourself into the classes you will need for the a-g requirement to start your path correctly for college. Most colleges want someone who has taken 4 years of each academic subject. Take AP classes to challenge yourself or even college prep classes but keep your grades straight.
  • GPA

    It is important to maintain you GPA high. Try your best to get good grades and keep your focus on school. Colleges will pay attention to your academic records to see if you actually try to do your work. Remember, colleges want to accept students who actually want to be there.Higher grades will expand your college choices.
  • Resume

    Making a resume will become helpful when filling out college forms. You won't forget when and what you have participated in and the activities in your application will help you stand out from other students who don't have anything on theirs.
  • Teachers Help

    It's also important to talk to your teachers about any questions you may have. Talking about your interests after high school and other topics of interests will become helpful when you ask them for a letter of recommendation. Get along with your teachers and remember they are there to help you.
  • SAT & ACT Testing

    You should sign up for a test in winter or spring of your junior year, so that way if you are unhappy with your test scores you will know what to study for the actual exam. For the PSAT, if you do well enough you may even receive a financial award which would help you out with fees later in college. It won't hurt to try, if anything it will help you by knowing what areas you need improving on.
  • Deciding What College Is Best For You

    Doing basic research on different colleges you may want to apply at is a great idea. Look for what the different schools have to offer and benefits it may have for you. If you already know what you want to major in, search for what school is best for your subject of interests. Secondly, visit campuses. It is important to get the feel of what it's actually like being in college. Pay attention to the other students there and try to see if you can picture yourself being one of them.
  • Consider Costs

    Colleges are pricey but don't let that bring you down. Put to mind that most schools will give you financial aid if you are accepted. Talking to your parents about college ahead of time would become helpful to your needs in the future. It is okay to ask how much they are willing to give if they are helping you out. It will also prepare you so know if you need to get a part time job to cover the expenses for college books and classes.
  • Submitting an early Application

    If you have a clear first choice in which college you want to apply at, check to see if they allow early submissions for applications. If you are unsure or indecisive about which college you want to attend, you can still submit your applications so you can know if you are even capable to attend that school by December.
  • Second Thoughts On Schools

    If you receive an acceptance letter, it is okay to change your mind if you don´t want go there anymore, it´s just reassurance that there will be spot open for you for a certain period.
  • Filling Out Application

    Make sure to complete your application correctly and on time. It is always good to have more than one recommendation from your teachers on your application.Write any necessary essays carefully and check for errors. When your done and confident withe you application submit it and be ready for any interview they may call you for. When all completed, just wait and get excited for a new journey to begin!
