Canada couldn’t compete with the Americans, so they set up branch plants so the companies could avoid paying taxes/tariffs at the border .The products were still "Made in Canada" so the Branch plants were copies of American parent companies . Most branch plants were being built in Ontario and Quebec.The branch plants were a success for both nation.
