James Hargreaves was a weaver, who invented the Jenny spinning machine in 1763.
The Jenny spinning machine was a spinning machine, invented in 1764 by James Hargreaves at Stanhill, near Blackburn in Lancashire, England.
This intermittent spinning machine operated in two stages: first it stretched and twisted the yarn and, after a pause, wound it onto the spindle. It is a semi-mechanized machine, because part of its operation was manual.
