  • Oklahoma City Bombing

    The Oklahoma city bombing marked one of the deadliest terrorist attacks in United States history. What was more concerning is the fact that a United States veteran were the perpetrators and murdered 168 people. The original reports coming out of the media was that the bombing in Oklahoma was done by Islamist extremist. Because of this public opinion of the middle east and American's from the region deteriorated.

  • 2000 Presidential election (Florida)

    The State of Florida held one of the most controversial presidential election voting methods. The "butterfly ballots" that were used caused mass confusion and lead to over 2,000 wrong votes. The Secretary of state also removed the names of 48,000 felons from a list that did not allow them to vote.   • Y2K

    The transition form 1999 to the year 2000 scared many analysists. They believed that banking systems would not be able to recognize the change in date in their binary coding systems. The crisis however was averted and technology as well as people who can solve situations like this became a necessity in business development.   • Human Genome Project

    The human genome projected constructed the first sequence of the human genome. This provided vital information about the human race, how we respond to medicines, traits we are born with, and much more.   • 9/11

    The attacks on the world trade center and pentagon nearly killed 3,000 people. After the attacks the American public was united and ready to rebuild. The American public was also eager for retribution. Congress approved military action in the middle east and would have troops deployed there for the next 2 decades.   • Iraq War

    Iraq was believed to be building nuclear weapons and in a proactive approach a U.S. lead coalition was created to invade. The invasion was successful but left the middle east in tatters and destabilized even further. This allowed militant groups to seize control over Iraq after the U.S. pulled out. This war did not effectively pacify the region in fact it worsened the Reputation of the United States.
  • Hurricane Katrina

    Katrina was one of the most deadly and costly natural disasters to ever occur in the United States. The storm killed more than 1,800 people and caused close to $180 Billion in damages and repairs. The east coast of the United States was left shattered with close to 800,000 homes/housing units destroyed or damaged.   • Global Finance Crisis

    The global finance crisis started because of a decline in the U.S. housing market. This caused many U.S. banks to get federal support to avoid bankruptcy. This cost citizens billions of dollars over the course of 3 years. The world felt this crisis because it relied on U.S. banking investments.

  • Edward Snowden Leaks

    Edward Snowden leaked top secret NSA files that revealed that the United States and the United Kingdom were operating a global surveillance program. The surveillance program even operated with the United States and collected information on Citizens.   • "Black Lives Matter" is created

    The black lives matter movement was a response to multiple different instances of crimes against black American's. The members thought there was no justice and that activism was needed. There were some who decided activism wasn't enough and escalated protests to riots.
