US invasion of Panama
The US invaded Panama in order to stop the drug trafficing problem in the government. The US wanted to stop the drug problem also to protect the citizens of Panama. The start date of this invasion was December 20, 1989. The US government did this in order to create a democratic government in Panama. -
Death of Jim Henson
Jim Henson is known for his work with the muppets. He was a puppetter and a writer for the show. Jim then became really sick and was beginning to cough up blood. He started to have a flu-like sickness on the fourth of May. On May 16, 1990, Jim died of Streptococcus pneumoniae. -
Passage of the Americans with disabilities act
The passage of the Americans with disabilities act prohibited the discrimination for people with disabilities. Ths act prohibits employees, employment agencies, and state and local governments from discriminating against disabled workers with qualified characteristics. From July 26, 1990 on, people could't discriminate against disabled workers in a job application procedure. -
Rodney King Beating/L.A. riots
Rodney King was involved in a high speed chase while driving umder the influence. A DUI would have violated his parole and then tried to out run the police. He was eventually cornered and then was taken out of his car and when he touched his rear end the police thought he was grabbing a weapon so used force to bring him to the ground. He was then repeatively beaten up by the police. The L.A. riots first occurred on April 29, 1992. 53 people died and they happened because of King's incident. -
Hurricane Andrew
At the time, Hurricane Andrew was the biggest hurricane to hit America. There were 39 casualties and 25 billion dollars were spent due to the hurricane. Hurricane Andrew was a category 5 hurricane. It hit Dade County, Florida on August 16, 1992. -
US Soldiers in Somalia/ Blackhawk down
This mission involved the US Army, 3rd battalion and they were supposed to deliver food to the poor. While trying to deliver food 2 helicopters were shot down. They attempted to help there peers but they ended up getting in a standoff with the Somalians. -
Passage of the North American Free Trade Agreement
The U.S., Canada, and Mexico signed an agreement for many reasons. One reason was to reduce cost when trading with one another. Another one was to increase business investment in those countries. Lastly, ithelped North America be more competitive in the world. The Noth American Free Trade Agreement was signed on January 1, 1994. -
O.J. Simpson Trail
Football great OJ Simpson was on trial for the accusation of killing Nicole (OJ's ex-wife) and Nicole's boyfriend, Roland. The trial lasted 133 days. OJ was founded not guilty. Viewers were outraged by the outcome and felt that he was founded not guilty due to his social status as a high paid celebrity. -

Louis Farrakhan lead a group of African American men that was then known as the Million Man March. It occurrred in Washington D.C. at the nation mall. The purpose of this march was to show America that blacks weren't bad people at all. The march haopened on October 16, 1995. -
Olympic Park Bombing
The Olympic Park Bombing occurred in Atlanta, Georgia. Eric Robert Rudolph planted 3 bombs in the Olympic Park. Apparently, he wanted the olympics to get canceled because he was mad at the government. The bombs were planted during the 1996 olympics. -
Murder of Jonbenet Ramsey
Jonbenet was a 6 year old beauty queen that moved to Boulder. She later went missing on December 25. Eventually she was found in her basement. She was strangled and hit on the head. No one knows who killed Jon Benet to this day. -
Murder of James Byrd
One day James Byrd got a ride home from John King, Shawn Berry, and Lawrence Russell Brewer. They were all racist and they ended up tying Byrd to the back of his truck. They drove for a few miles and kept driving until Byrd died. Byrd died only because he was black and didnt do anything wrong. -
Murder of Matthew Shepard
Matthew Shepard was 21 years old when he was killed because of his sexual orentation. Aaron McKinney and Russell Henderson gave Shepard a ride home but then took him to a neighborhood and proceded to torture him. They ended up tying him to the fence and left him to die. 18 hours later he was discovered by Aaron Kreifels. Shepard was still in a coma but due to several head injuries died on October 12, 1998. -
NATO bombing in Yugoslavia
This bombing occurred to try and stop the government in Yugoslavia from being so violent. The United Nations never approved the bombing. It was an operation against the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. The bombings went on for 3 months in Yugoslavia. -
Columbine Massacre
Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold went to Columbine High School and started a huge school shooting. The boys had a very elusive plan that they pulled off very well. They murdered 12 students and one teacher. They injured 24 students as well; they planted all sorts of explosives around the school and parking lot. The boys ended up committing suicide.
