    1st commercial flash-based solid-state drive launched by SunDisk. Solid-state drives are much more efficient and have fewer moving parts than an HDD.

    IBM Simon Personal Communicator (IBM Simon) was a PDA that became known as the first smartphone. Designed by IBM, manufactured by Mitsubishi Electric, and distributed by BellSouth Cellular Corp. It's amazing to think about how far smartphones have come since then - not only with size and weight but also with the capabilities of current smartphones. So much information and technology in the palm of your hand!

    Wi-Fi was invented and released for consumers in 1997. Vic Hayes chaired the committee that created the 802.11 standards and has been called the "Father of Wi-Fi". Wi-Fi allows us the freedom to be connected to the internet without being 'plugged in'.
